​​​Melee Friends Activate! (MFA!) is a weekly Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament in Orange, CA. For the branding of this tournament series I found inspiration from the De Stijl design movement. I felt that the tournament name and primary colors and shapes played well with each other to signify the relationship of this event and its audience; the simplicity and accessibility of gaming with friends. One of the biggest eye catching aspects of this event is the use of old CRT televisions for monitors. I used this as inspiration for the poster to further tie in with the event and to create a visual focal point of the TV static to give a nostalgic and mysterious sense for the viewer.
