2023 - 2025
Over the past three years, I’ve designed a collection of Power Ranking banners for the Southern California Super Smash Bros. Melee scene, each reflecting the unique energy and identity of its competitive season. Drawing from a wide range of themes, each banner was crafted to celebrate the players’ achievements while capturing the spirit of the community. This evolving body of work showcases not only the growth of SoCal Melee but also my own progression as a designer blending esports, nostalgia, and visual storytelling.

This PR banner's theme was the Wii UI / Miis. This was to focus on giving the viewer a sense of nostalgia to correlate with the disbanding of our college Melee club. I wanted the viewer to reminisce about the beginnings of our club through nostalgia and this theme was the perfect fit.

I wanted to bring more of a physical media presence within this PR banner so I created an arts and crafts theme showing every individual asset hand cut and placed.

This banner was inspired by my at the time Figma class as I wanted to continue refining my skills within the program. Using the theme of a mobile dating app, I built a UI to fit its function and overall theme through using components and variants.

I was inspired by the Swiss design movement and created this PR with the intention to focus on the beauty and flow of hierarchy and the grid system. Created in illustrator, printed and scanned to give a more tangible feel.

This PR banner was created with the intention of bringing the stereotypical "smash bros bar tournament" into a piece of visual media. I really focused on leading the eye with this banner starting at the bright glass of beer at the top and moving down the illustrations to the base of the pen and back up to the top of the receipt paper and down the rankings chart.

Inspired by the bauhaus movement, this PR focuses on strong bold shapes, primary colors and a grid system that's slightly tilted to give a bit more dynamism.

This power ranking was inspired by Windows Vista / Frutiger Aero UI. I felt that it fit the theme of it being a Spring / Summer PR as well.

I was inspired by Picasso's piece Guernica and created this banner to showcase a museum exhibition fine art theme for this season's power ranking.
